Paris Olympics 2024 Live: Team GB Divers Reach Semi-Finals – But Zharnel Hughes Pulls Out Of 200m

Good morning and welcome to live coverage of day 10 of the 2024 Olympic Games and we start at the Aquatics Centre where Team GB Louis Toulson and Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix are up in the women’s 10-metre platform.

Spendolini-Sirieix and Toulson earned a hard-fought bronze medal in the women’s synchronised 10m platform last week and dive as individuals today.

The pair jumped into second at the end of round two, but entering the more difficult dives, they could only post 60.3 in the third round, causing them to tumble into fifth.

They responded well in the final rounds, scoring a 77.76 on their final dive and following a nervous wait their spot on the podium was all but confirmed after nearest rivals Canada could only score 68.16 on their last dive

After that at 9.40am, Holly Bradshaw begins starts her fourth Olympic pole vault challenge after achieving Team GB’s first medal in the sport three years ago in Tokyo. No Olympian has competed in four pole vault finals at the Games, giving Bradshaw a chance of making history over the coming days.

Bradshaw, who almost retired last year following the death of her father, said: “It feels pretty surreal to be going to my fourth [Olympics]. It’s quite an honour to go to one, so to be able to sit here and say I’m going to my fourth is such a privilege and an honour. I’m excited. I won bronze in the last one which was amazing.

“I got sixth in London and fifth in Rio. Finally got my medal in Tokyo. Now I feel like I can really soak it up and enjoy it.”

On the track, Jessie Knight will be be racing in the second heat of the women’s 400m hurdles. Knight actually gave up athletics in 2017, becoming a full-time teacher at a school in Epsom, Surrey before returning to competition the following year.
