Wolves vs Liverpool tips Double result – draw/Liverpool @ 18/5 with William HillCody Gakpo to score anytime @ 6/4 with William HillBet builder – Mohamed Salah to score anytime and Luis Diaz to have at least one shot on target @ 17/10 with William Hill Reds can eventually make their class tell The visitors should maintain their fine start to the season under new boss Arne Slot with a victory at the Wolves, although perhaps they will have to rely on a strong second-half showing.
Liverpool go into the weekend’s fixtures just a point behind leaders Manchester City after winning four of their first five games in the Premier League. The Merseysiders have also enjoyed impressive victories over AC Milan in the Champions League and West Ham United in the Carabao Cup in the early weeks of Slot’s Anfield reign.
The Reds have so much in-form attacking talent that Wolves will surely struggle to keep them quiet for the whole game. Luis Diaz has scored five goals in all competitions already, Mohamed Salah has four, Diogo Jota three, Cody Gakpo two and Darwin Nunez one.
The West Midlanders, by contrast, enter the weekend bottom of the table with just one point from their first five outings. Their miserable start to the 2024-25 campaign looks set to continue with another defeat at Molineux.
However, it could be a tight first half on Saturday before the Reds take control after the break.
Wolves have performed well in the first half of several of their games this season. They were level with Chelsea 2-2 at the break before slumping after the interval to a 6-2 defeat, while in their losses against Newcastle United and Aston Villa they were leading at the break in both matches before conceding costly second-half goals.
In fact, all of Wolves’ five goals in the league this term have come in the first half, underlining that they have been strong starters before capitulating later on.
Boss Gary O’Neil is likely to set his team up to try to frustrate the visitors to begin with. That could lead to a cagey opening 45 minutes before Liverpool’s array of attacking talent take charge after the break.
Wolves vs Liverpool tip 1: Draw/Liverpool @ 18/5 with William Hill
Gakpo can grab another goal Dutch star Gakpo has largely had to watch from the bench in league matches because of Diaz’s stunning early-season form.
But Gakpo started against Milan in the Champions League and West Ham in the Carabao Cup, impressing in both outings. He got an assist in the San Siro before scoring twice late on in the 5-1 rout of the Hammers.
With competition for places so fierce, the Dutchman must take his chances when they arise. Even if he is only introduced as a second-half substitute against Wolves, he can deliver in front of goal late on to help the Reds pick up another victory.
Wolves vs Liverpool tip 2: Cody Gakpo to score anytime @ 6/4 with William Hill
Salah to inspire Reds again Egyptian ace Salah scored three goals in the first three games of the season, against Ipswich Town, Brentford and Manchester United before failing to find the back of the net in the next three as Nottingham Forest, Milan and Bournemouth were able to keep him out.
He took little time adding to his tally when coming off the bench in the EFL Cup win over West Ham on Wednesday, though, and Salah will be confident he can follow up with at least one more goal against a Wolves side that have conceded a joint league high of 14 this term.
The second part of the bet builder is for Diaz to have at least one shot on target, which seems likely considering the forward has had eight on the mark so far for Liverpool this season, including four last week against the Cherries when he scored a brace.
Wolves vs Liverpool tip 3: Bet builder – Mohamed Salah to score anytime and Luis Diaz at least one shot on target @ 17/10 with William Hill
